Make The Ride Happen is a program of Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan.
Make The Ride Happen serves Older Adults and Individuals with Disabilities in Calumet, Outagamie, WInnebago and Waupaca Counties. For the Winnebago Catch A Ride Program we serve disadvantaged individuals with employment rides 18 year plus. Cycling Without Age program is focused on Older Adults and Adult individuals with disabilities. The Transportation Call Center is available to anyone in the general public to get information.
Make The Ride Happen identifies those un- or under served individuals in the community, and coordinates with other local providers of transportation services. This program ensures that services are being provided to individuals in a way that complements rather than duplicates any existing services. We manage a transportation call center that allows individuals and their families/caregivers to get comprehensive information on all transportation options available. We manage a volunteer driver program that takes individuals to their appointments for a donation. Make The Ride Happen will work to increase use and awareness of public transit by adults and individuals with disabilities through the use of Individual Travel Training. MRH staff provides support and training and will facilitate and/or enhance travel training in the areas served by Go Transit (Oshkosh). Winnebago Catch A Ride program attempts to ensure disadvantaged populations have access to employment and healthcare services. This program uses a dedicated group of volunteer drivers who use their own car to provide that ride. We supplement these rides with private taxi rides and Lyft. The Cycling With Age program has add a network of trained volunteers who can provide free tri-shaw bicycle rides, allowing older adults and those with differing abilities the opportunity to spend time outdoors interacting with their community.
